Jeans for All: Any Way You Want Them...

... That's the way you need them! Any way you want them! (insert guitar here). Yes, a slight riff on the Journey classic with a word changed here and there.

For some reason, a few people have asked me about jeans and what's in style today, and I have no idea why! Why me? I don't own all the newest trends but I will try to give an honest opinion on what I think is in (or still in).

When I think of jeans, I always recall a line from the movie Never Been Kissed with Drew Barrymore, in which she dresses up to pose as a high school student, even though she's...gasp!.. 25!,  to write an article for her big Chicago newspaper.   The only problem is, she was a total nerd in high school and mercilessly picked on by more socially adept students, which recalls flashbacks to her own awful experiences.  In one memorable scene, she was trying to talk to the popular girls in the cafeteria when she spilled chocolate milk on her white jeans and said in good humor, "That'll teach me not to wear white after Labor Day!"  (Side note: back in 1999, white jeans = not OK).  Prompting one of the mean popular girls to say "I don't think you're supposed to wear white jeans after 1983."  Which was followed by lots of popular girl giggling... (As if! Wait... wrong movie!)  Well, thankfully, it's been over 10 years since that movie came out (Wow!)  and, as you can see below, lil' miss popular snark is totally wrong!

After looking at what's available in stores this season I've come to the conclusion that you cannot go wrong with any style you like.  It appears as if all styles (skinny, flare, bootcut, straight leg, relaxed, boyfriend, trouser, wide leg) and rises (high, mid, low) are in.  Not to mention the vast array of washes (dark, light, acid and anything in between), colors, prints, leg lengths (cropped, ankle, regular) and distressing!  Shew!  That's a lot to absorb.  Not to mention all these great jeans are now available for every price point.  Hooray!

So go ahead and go wild with you favorite pair, be it the colored and cropped skinny or the classic dark washed bootcut.  Speaking of wild, how wild are those zebra print cropped jeans in the corner below? They are a bit out of my comfort zone, but I am really loving them!   Check out all the great styles for every budget I found on Polyvore.com and see for yourself.  These are only the tip of the iceberg.
